Empowering Women Over 40: Learning Week by STARwomen

During the first week of December, as part of the STARwomen – Simulation Training for Women Erasmus+ project, Tribeka Training Lab organized the Learning Week. The aim of this project was to empower 10 Spanish unemployed women over 40 in Málaga city and province. It was an incredible journey filled with self-discovery, practical skill-building, and the creation of meaningful connections.

The program was designed to meet the unique needs of the participants, equipping them with the tools and confidence to re-enter the workforce while fostering personal growth. The week began with ice-breaking activities and theatrical improvisation. These engaging sessions encouraged participants to step out of their comfort zones, express themselves creatively, and build confidence. It set the tone for a week focused on openness and growth. Later, we turned the focus inward, working on building self-esteem and mastering stress control techniques. These sessions provided valuable strategies for tackling life’s challenges with resilience and calm, laying a foundation for long-term personal and professional success. The final step was all about preparing participants for today’s fast-evolving job market. During the last days we taught them how to sharpen their CVs, optimize LinkedIn profiles, and leverage AI tools to enhance their job search efforts. These practical, future-ready skills are true game-changers in the competitive digital age. By the end of the week, our participants walked away with more than just knowledge—they gained a renewed sense of confidence, practical tools, and soft skills to enhance their employability. They connected with a network of like-minded women, shared their stories, and took steps toward achieving their career goals. We are incredibly proud of the courage, determination, and enthusiasm these women brought to the program. This Learning Week wasn’t just about finding a job; it was about rediscovering potential, building resilience, and opening new doors.

Beyond the curriculum, the week was an opportunity for participants to connect, share ideas, and discover new possibilities. Through shared experiences and collaborative activities, the women built bonds that could lead to future partnerships and projects. Each participant left with a deeper understanding of her own potential, ready to embrace change and pursue new opportunities with confidence. The program used innovative and empowering methods, including photovoice, gaming, and improvisational theater. These diverse approaches ensured that learning was not only effective but also engaging and enjoyable.

This Learning Week was about more than just acquiring new skills. It was about empowerment, self-belief, and unlocking the strength within each participant. As we close this chapter, we look forward to hearing about their journeys. We’re confident that with the skills and confidence gained, they’re ready to embrace new opportunities and shine in their professional paths.
